Tracy Jackson

Director of Neighborhood Improvement Services

Tracy L. Jackson, employed by the City of Jacksonville, is the Director of Neighborhood Improvement Services. She has over 22 years of experience working for local governments administering HUD grant programs in the housing industry. Her background in Grant Writing, Organizational Management, Non-Profits Compliance Monitoring & Board Development, Contract Administration & Financial Management represent a unique combination of disciplines. Her accomplishments include implementing the City of Jacksonville’s Housing Initiative where new affordable homes are constructed with incentives to revitalize neighborhoods and other areas in Jacksonville.

She graduated from Barton College of Wilson, NC with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a Minor in Finance. She continued her education and graduated from Ashford University of Clinton, IA with a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management with Leadership Specialization. She attended the UNC Institute of Government in Chapel Hill and also is a HUD Certified Housing Counselor.

Tracy is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society, The Association of Housing Counselors of NC, The National Community Development Association, The current Vice President of The NC Community Development Association and member of the Board for Southeastern NC Boys & Girls Club. She is a member of the Chapter Order of the Eastern Stars, PHA at Excelsior #305 in Jacksonville, NC where she served as Secretary for ten years. She is a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church since 1998 where she has been the Financial Secretary for over 17 years and she is an appointed Deaconess.

Tracy’s greatest accomplishments include being married for over 40 years to Deacon Gregory D. Jackson and having two sons, Gregory (Sharanda) D. Jackson, II, who resides in Lexington, NC and Travis L. Jackson who resides in Jacksonville, NC. She also shares a birthday with her granddaughter Skylar Danielle and adores her grandson Ty Sebastian with whom she spends every possible moment as their GiGi. She enjoys spending time with family, reading and gardening.
