National Volunteer Month: Strengthening Communities with Atlantic Union Bank

April is National Volunteer Month, an opportunity for WARM to honor and express appreciation for the remarkable individuals who dedicate their time and talents to our mission. Volunteers are essential to our work, enabling us to provide vital home repairs and support services that ensure safety and comfort for local homeowners in need.

In 2024 alone, WARM benefited from the generous contributions of 457 local volunteers, who collectively provided over 17,136 hours of valuable service to our community.

This month, we are pleased to highlight the outstanding volunteer efforts of Atlantic Union Bank. Recently, their team participated in a meaningful project involving yard maintenance and the demolition of an unsafe structure at a local resident’s home. Their efforts transformed challenging tasks into an impactful day characterized by teamwork, community spirit, and genuine camaraderie.

Atlantic Union Bank volunteer Charlie Mattox captured the spirit of the day perfectly: “Helping our community is really important and it’s so much fun to get out with our coworkers, spend a little time helping somebody in need who’s locally here with us. It’s very important to us personally. It’s very important to our company and we’re so proud to be able to help and give back to a neighbor in need.”

Volunteering with WARM not only benefits homeowners but also enriches the lives of volunteers. Participating in team-based volunteer projects fosters stronger relationships among colleagues, enhances practical skills, and boosts individual confidence.

Charlie further noted, “Volunteering as a team really strengthens our company culture because our team is our family and we get to work with each other every day but it’s also nice to be able to get out and do things we don’t normally do together.”

At WARM, each volunteer's contribution directly supports the independence and dignity of homeowners, ensuring their homes remain safe, accessible, and comfortable.

We invite you to celebrate National Volunteer Month by joining our dedicated volunteer community. Whether individually or as part of a group, your participation will have a lasting impact. As Charlie warmly encourages, “We’re here to help. We’re here to have fun and to make a difference. So come join us and come volunteer with WARM.”
